The Blanton Museum is currently showing Alternate Worlds: The Visionary Artist in Texas, an exhibition of paintings, objects and works on paper from the Blanton's collection by Swearingen and fellow Texas artists Eddie Arning, John Banks, Hector Alonzo Benevides, Carl Dixon, Peter Drgac, Mark Cole Greene and Ike Morgan. These Texas artists offer unique interpretations of our everyday lives.The exhibit may inspire you to learn more about Texas artists at your Library. We received three new books – the top three listed - about Texas artists in 2008, which is a record number for one year.

Thanks for the information about Texas art. Other good books about the subject that the Library has are "Texas: 150 Works from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston" by Alison de Lima Greene, "Lone Star Regionalism: the Dallas Nine and their Circle, 1928 - 1945", and "Art for History's Sake: the Texas Collection of the Witte Museum."
